OnyxCeph³™ EDU for Education and Training

EDU License OnyxCeph

Education and Training

The OnyxCeph³™ software has been used for years at many university orthodontic institutions, not only in connection with treatment measures and research, but also for training purposes.
In Europe, these include universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as university clinics in Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary and, with Guys and St Thomas Hospital London, the largest orthodontic training institution in Europe.
The software is also frequently used for doctoral theses, research projects and other scientific work, as well as for various long-term courses.

Infrastructure

Often problematic from a licensing and data protection perspective is the required access to as many of the available diagnostic and planning functions by as many/all students as possible.
Currently, due to the shift from classic courses to various forms of eLearning, the demand for local (decentralized) use outside the university network is playing an increasingly important role.
In order to clearly separate productive and teaching use, many universities already use a separate (usually virtual) training server with its own license, on which only anonymized data released for such purpose are processed.
Such education servers can then be accessed within the university intranet from local client computers - e.g., in the computer cabinet or with mobile devices.

Flexible Use

In order to enable the effective, but for Image Instruments also practical, economically viable and legally compliant use of OnyxCeph³™ for education and training purposes, a special OnyxCeph³™ EDU training license will be offered from 2021 at a flat rate of EUR 5,000 for universities that already have a productive OnyxCeph³™ LAB or OMS license. Such EDU license can include any of the available optional modules, but cannot be used for commercial purposes.
In addition to the use of such an EDU license in the local educational network, enrolled students of the university can also use the software non-commercially on a private notebook as a single-user license for a nominal fee of EUR 100 per year. Each of these personalized single-user licenses must be legitimized by the university.
